I put this playlist together for a Day of the Dead/Dia De Los Muertos festival I DJed at my daughter’s Spanish immersion school. I purposely left off songs about zombies & “brujeria” (witchcraft) as I’ve seen on other Dia De Los Muertos song lists. To me, this is the American influence of Halloween on Dia De Los Muertos. This holiday is about remembering & honoring the dead, which is reflected in the songs I chose about Day of the Dead. I also included some patriotic Mexican music, which experience tells me is appropriate at any Mexican holiday.
